Eine durchgehende Scheidung nach den Suffixen -ala u. -ila ist nicht mehr möglich. Ein sicherer Beleg für die Form -ala ist droscala: nom. sg. Gl 3,291,3 (SH b, 12. Jh.). Ihre Geltung ergibt sich aus dem Fehlen des Umlauts im Mhd. u. Nhd. Die vereinzelten späten Belege mit Umlaut (s. u.) setzen die Form -ila voraus.
